High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens will star in the new teenage drama Will, according to The Hollywood News
Director Todd Graff and Josh Cagan wrote the screenplay for the movie, which revolves around a high school misfit and a popular girl that form an unlikely friendship through their shared love of music. Together, they form a band of outcasts and go on to perform in a musical competition.
Vanessa Hudgens plays the fifteen-year-old misfit.
The film is set for a February 2008 start in Austen, Texas.

Talk of a possible Christmas time break up might be a bit premature for Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. The “High School Musical” pair were together last night at the 19th Annual Palm Springs Film Festival. Vanessa was looking gorgeous in a black dress and was smiling from ear to ear with Zac. Either they are putting on a nice show for the cameras since fans want to see them together or they are still happily involved.

“High School Musical” starlet Vanessa Hudgens is probably better known for those sensationalized nudie snaps than for her sensational singing skills.
And after months of silence, Ness has finally spoken out about the scandal.
“The picture came out while I was on vacation in Australia. Thank God, I wasn’t home — it would have sucked if I was at home,” Vanessa told People magazine. “So I got to be away from L.A. for about a millisecond. But when I came back, it got kind of crazy.”
And while most mothers would have been mad (not to mention mortified) if their little girl was splashed across the world in such a way, it seems as though Mrs. Hudgens was full of support.
“I was just open with her, and she was just so cute,” Hudgens said. “She was like, ‘Well, everyone can be naked if they want to.’”

Vanessa Hudgens quickly learned the repercussions of being famous when photos of her posing naked last September. She made her first post-scandal appearance at Us' Hot Hollywood event later that month.
"It was very traumatic, and I am extremely upset it happened," she tells February's Seventeen. "I hope all my fans can learn from my mistake and make smart decisions."
She says her manager first informed her the shots were leaked.
"We heard some story was going to break in the tabloids, and I was like, 'What?!?' A few days later, the picture came out while I was on vacation in Australia," she says. "Thank God, I wasn’t home — it would have sucked."
And how did she explain the photos to mom?
"I was just open with her, and she was just so cute," Hudgens says. "She was like, 'Well, everyone can be naked if they want to.' [Laughs] My parents are very supportive of me. And they know I’m a teenager, and yes, kids do stupid things sometimes."
Hudgens says she learned a valuable lesson: "It’s very unfortunate because with the Internet these days, you don’t have a personal life. Nothing is private: Everyone knows everything, and they can find out everything about you... you have to be aware of the people you’re around."
She can count on boyfriend Zac Efron for support (both are set to star in the third HSM movie).
"He always makes me happy," she tells the magazine. "He literally knows exactly what to do to make me laugh."
Are the two ready to get hitched?
"No," she insists. "It’s fun having a boyfriend."
"But only time will tell," she adds. "I’m still young, and I have my girlfriends and I have my family. I think that it’s definitely important to have balance."

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are keeping the love alive in Los Angeles despite several speculative reports that they have split or that their romance is manufactured for publicity. According to a report from Fox News the pair were spotted getting cozy in a bar and sipping on some martinis last weekend.
The report claims that the High School Musical sweethearts very cozy in a back booth in Hollywood at Lola's last Friday night.
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have been mentioned all year long as America's hottest young couple and gossips have had them all over the map. Some have claimed they were broken up or close to a split but they have defied those guesses and are still together and putting on a united front.
